Restoration of main entrance marble floor

Surface: House entrance porch marble floor

Services: Marble Floor Restoration

Location: Wimpole Street, London

Project: marble floor restoration at the entrance porch of a house on Wimpole Street, London. The surface had visible marks and scratches that affected its appearance. The work described for this project involved cleaning, refinishing and polishing the marble, followed by a sealing treatment.

Restoring an entrance floor

An entrance floor receives regular foot traffic and is exposed to dirt brought in from outside. For this porch, the restoration focused on the stone surface rather than simply covering the marks. Cleaning prepared the marble; polishing then improved the visible finish and reduced the appearance of etching and scratches where the condition of the stone allowed.

The before-and-after images and project gallery show the entrance in context and document the change in appearance. A sealing treatment was applied after the surface work. The exact level of slip resistance of a completed floor cannot be established from a sealer label or photographs alone; it would require an appropriate site-specific test if compliance is needed.

If you have a marked marble entrance, send photographs of the whole area and close-ups of worn or damaged sections. The stone condition, previous treatments and desired finish determine the restoration options.
