Chemical clean and seal terrazzo floor

Description:

This South London project involved deep chemical cleaning of a terrazzo floor, followed by polishing to a glossy finish and sealant treatment. The gallery shows the terrazzo and its grout lines with reflected light across the cleaned surface. Cleaning and finishing are separate stages: deposits have to be addressed before the underlying surface can be assessed properly.

The choice of chemical depends on the terrazzo binder, aggregate and any old coating. An unsuitable cleaner can damage some floors, so a method should be checked on the actual material. Polishing refines the visible surface; the sealer’s role is to help manage staining where compatible, not to guarantee resistance to every spill or a measured slip rating. The images document this specific South London floor and its appearance. For a comparable job, include close views of joints, stains and existing finish.
