Concrete wall grinding and polishing

Description:

This London school project records grinding and polishing of 98 concrete wall panels using a backpack grinding machine. The gallery includes views of technicians working on vertical surfaces and close-ups of the wall texture. Working on panels differs from polishing a floor because the equipment, access and control of dust or slurry must suit the upright surface.

Surface refinement can make a concrete finish more even, while natural differences in cast panels and previous repairs may remain visible. Edges, openings and adjoining materials need careful treatment during the work. The original description called the machine unique in the UK, a claim the project photographs cannot verify; the documented facts are the equipment type, panel count and work shown. The images illustrate the school’s wall assignment, not an exact finish guarantee for another concrete structure.
