Limestone floor restoration to its original elegance
Surface: Limestone floor
Location: London
Description
Stone Rescue restored approximately 70 m² of limestone flooring at a London property. The work covered damaged stone and skirting-board sections as well as the floor finish, so repairs and surface preparation came before the final sealing stage.
The team repaired cracks in the limestone and skirting area and reproduced a section of skirting board. Up to 15 linear metres of epoxy grout were replaced. The floor then received light grinding, removing around 0.5 mm from the upper surface, followed by polishing to a matt finish.
Two coats of water-based sealant were applied after polishing. The photographs below show the limestone floor associated with this project. The work combined repairs, grout replacement and a restrained matt finish rather than simply cleaning the visible surface.
