Marble stone restoration
Description:
This Kensington embassy project records restoration of marble stone affected by fume deposits and older dirty marks. The stated process was deep cleaning, polishing to a matt finish and applying an impregnating sealer. Gallery photographs show the patterned marble in an interior setting and cleaning work in progress.
Deposits on the surface should be distinguished from stains that have entered the stone and from acid etching. Cleaning may address the first, while polishing refines a dull marble face. A matt result is deliberately less reflective than a high gloss, and its suitability depends on the existing stone and use of the area. An impregnating sealer can reduce some staining but does not prevent future damage or acid etching, despite the broader promise in the earlier project note. These images document the visible Kensington assignment without a fixed performance guarantee.
