Master bathroom area restoration

Description:

This Canary Wharf master-bathroom project records restoration of stone walls and flooring. The wall work described in the job notes included removing limescale and plastic hooks, followed by a colour-intensifying sealer and solvent-based wax. The floor was cleaned, polished and sealed to a silky finish. The gallery shows dark and brown veined wall stone, glazed partitions and the adjacent floor.

Different stone surfaces in one room may need different cleaning and finishing methods. Deposits beside wet areas should be distinguished from marks within the stone and from damage to joints. Acidic descalers can etch marble; a suitable sealer may help reduce staining but is not waterproofing and cannot correct a leaking shower. The photographs document the appearance of this master-bathroom assignment. A similar room should be assessed surface by surface, including moisture sources and previous coatings.
