Location: Property near Putney Bridge, London.

The works will involve the careful and controlled removal of all loose, fractured and unstable sections of the existing stone quoins, cornices and chamfered edges.

This will be carried out using hand tools and low-impact mechanical methods where appropriate, to minimise vibration and prevent further damage to the surrounding historic fabric.

Once the defective material has been safely removed and the substrate fully exposed, the remaining stonework will be thoroughly cleaned and prepared.

Stainless steel remedial anchors and fixings, specifically selected for their corrosion resistance and compatibility with Portland stone, will then be installed at strategic points to provide structural reinforcement and long-term stability to the facade.

Following stabilisation, the missing profiles, mouldings and chamfered details will be meticulously reconstructed using a traditional lime-based repair mortar incorporating finely graded Portland stone dust.

The mix will be carefully proportioned and colour-matched to the original stone to ensure both aesthetic harmony and appropriate vapour permeability, allowing the facade to breathe naturally and preventing trapped moisture.

The reconstruction will be executed by skilled stone masons to accurately replicate the original architectural details, including sharp arrises, correct depths of chamfer and faithful reproduction of any existing moulding profiles. Upon completion, the repaired areas will be tooled and finished to blend seamlessly with the adjacent original stonework.
All works will be undertaken with full respect for the historic character of the building and in accordance with recognised conservation principles.
