Sanding wood floor

Description:

This London wood-floor project addresses high-heel dents and surface wear. The original notes describe sanding to reduce the marks and application of a clear varnish intended for heavy traffic. The gallery shows several views of the timber before and during the work, giving context for the marks and the floor’s broader appearance.

Sanding removes a thin layer of wood, so the available timber thickness and condition of boards must be checked first. Some deep dents can remain if removing them would take too much material; loose boards or gaps need separate repair. A clear coating leaves the natural grain visible, while its wear life depends on use and care. The notes do not identify the timber species, varnish brand or a fixed durability period. These photographs document the London assignment rather than a guarantee for every wooden floor.
